Aberffraw

Post Code: LL63

Population: 600

Property Profile: The grain of housing seems to be mainly terraced with an assortment of small bungalows and detached houses. Two or three bedroom cottages should be relatively easy to come by in this picturesque little seaside village

Description: Aberffraw is on the southwest coast of the Island. It is a small, quiet, friendly village situated above the estuary of the Afon Ffraw where it enjoys magnificent views of the North Wales coast. It has a clean sandy beach with some rugged rocky coastline close at hand. Good walking territory!
On a clear day the panorama stretches from Llanfairfechan to the tip of the Lleyn Peninsula, with the mountains of Snowdonia forming a magnificent backdrop.
Historically Aberffraw was an thriving port but the estuary gradually silted up and gave way to sand dunes which now dominate the coastline. Coastal change over centuries has created the inland lake of Llyn Coron.

Between the 7th and 13th centuries, Aberffraw was one of the most significant towns in North Wales, home to the Princes of Gwynedd, including Llewelyn the Great. It is fabled that during certain periods in history Aberffraw could justifiably claim to be the capital of all Wales.
